On the twelveth day of wedding/Showerless in Alabama

Ok I got maybe 12days before I take the leap and no bridal shower! He had a groom's shower at his job and it was nice and the gifts are for both of us- BUT I want my own shower! I know this may sound selfish and maybe it is but a girl has needs to. I mean I thought showers were for girls and I should be the queen of this time period and all eyes should be on me. I think I can smell one coming on at work but I am not really sure yet and I KNOW that there are more important things for me to do than walk around with my lip stuck out over a shower. I got wedding favors to make and a veil to buy and so many other last min. things. I really don't want to whine but I really want a shower and especially at work. I am over the hospitality committee and I know it will be hard to pull things off with out my say so but my he is over the hospitality committee on his job too and they pulled it off with out a hitch. OK it is time for me to take a "big girl pill" and stop crying over this. I just have all of these so called "friends" at work who would do "anything for me" and here I sit 12 days away only 9 work days away and showerless.

Bride to Be Yeah That's Me

My wedding day is coming soon. I am so excited and nervous at the same time. Anyone got some wedding/marriage suggestions? I am all ears!

I feel a little guilty about leaving my sweet class for a while and I wonder what the parents will have to say. I am only taking a few days. I planned the wedding to be around Thanksgiving Holiday so I want miss to may work day. I hate being off, planning for a sub is more work than being there that day. Any teacher agree with that- raise your hand ? Thank you-hands down.

To test or not to test??????????

Fellow educators I ask this question to the primary grade teachers. What are your views on testing- teacher given test (not state or district)? Those weekly skills test - the Reading test, Math test and the old famous Spelling test!

The Reading Test
The young 1st grader enters into your room on Friday, sits are your table and reads a poem, book, passage, or story that your class has been "working on" all week.

The Math Test
Little Sue comes to school knowing that she must be able to write and read her number from 1-50 in order to "pass" her math test this week.

Spelling Test
This is a oldie ! "Boys and Girls number your paper from 1-10 and clear your desk. Ready? Number 1 cat /c/ /a/ /t/ cat The cat can run." Oh yes! You know all about saying the word, sounding, the word and giving the word to the students in a sentence.

What are your views on one or all of these test in the primary grades? Helpful or Harmful?
To test or not to test? That is MY Question!
